Classes About Yoga Our Teachers Booking Form

Yoga is a balanced form of body work that leaves you well-toned, refreshed and relaxed. Through the practice of the ‘asanas’ you develop your physical suppleness, endurance, strength and the ability to relax. Yoga leads to increased physical and emotional well being, a well-aligned posture and grace of movement.

In contrast to many other forms of exercise, yoga also involves the training of awareness. The real limits to our ability to stretch and open exist in our mental and emotional attitudes, for example the way we tend to recoil from or push against the intensity of a stretch. In order to progress, we have to learn to ‘play the edge’ to extend our awareness to the breadth of our whole experience, to find the appropriate effort in any given situation; to balance vigour and determination with gentleness and receptivity, and to use our imagination.

We can be inspired by the qualities of the natural elements, and imbue the poses with the rootedness of earth, the adaptability of water, the enthusiasm of fire, the permeability of air, and the expansiveness of space. In this way Yoga becomes a creative exploration of our possibilities to grow and develop as whole beings.

Most classes end with a short period of meditation.

To book please download a copy of the booking form, and send to us with a deposit cheque for £20. Cheques should be payable to the Glasgow Buddhist Centre. Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable. Please book early as spaces are very limited for yoga courses.
