history
The Friends of the Western Buddhist Order (Glasgow) was founded in 1973 when the Glasgow Buddhist group, a small gathering of people interested in all things Buddhist, decided to affiliate themselves with the FWBO in London. Since then we have been running classes in the city.

We have been at our current premises since 1983. Thousands of people have come through our doors - some for a single meditation course to pick up some hints on stress and relaxation and some with bigger questions who stay for longer, finding our approach to the Buddha's teachings useful in their search. Some even eventually end up running the Buddhist centre! In recent years, we have established FWBO meditation and study groups in various cities and towns in Scotland, as well as Dhanakosa a retreat center near Balquhidder in the Scottish Highlands. www.dhanakosa.com |
