Mindfulness-Based Pain Management 


This course  is entirely secular in nature. It is based on a mindfulness approach, is designed to develop self-understanding and provide a range of strategies to alleviate personal distress.


Key elements include:

  • breath awareness

  • body awareness and relaxation

  • very gentle mindful movement adapted from yoga and Pilates

  • training in how to manage pain in daily life and live with greater confidence and initiative

  • mindfulness and meditation practice

Module 1 -  This course offers a range of strategies to ease suffering associated with chronic pain and/or physical ill health whatever the diagnosis. The course is led by Jyotipakshini who has undertaken Breathworks training, and is a member of the Western Buddhist Order.

This day is for people who have completed any course in mindfulness-based practice (eg Breathworks) to offer an opportunity to refresh their knowledge and inspiration within the context of a day retreat.

Healing at the Glasgow Buddhist Centre

All our courses have a healing and self-development aspect to them (you could check out the weekend programme in particular) but the courses above are intended to help with specific difficulties.


One of our Order Members, Bodhiccha, is a healer member of the National Federation of Spiritual Healers.  If you might be interested in trying this traditional Western form of healing, please ring the Centre for more information (0141 333 0524).
