Friday Drop-in Meditation

This weekly meditation drop-in is suitable for complete beginners, and also those with some experience of the mindfulness of breathing and metta bhavana (development of loving kindness) meditations.  

The newcomers class covers the following areas: posture, body awareness, the foundations of mindfulness practice and developing kindness for oneself and others. Those new to meditation will gain a practical ability in the two foundation meditation practices we teach. Pete has been practising Tai Chi since 1994 and teaching since 2009.  He initially studied Yang style long form under Alistair Sutherland and then latterly studied the short form under Tom Williams.  He is a registered instructor with the Tai Chi Union for Great Britain.

The class caters for beginners & regulars and includes instruction in the Yang short form, Qigong (energy cultivation) and a short meditation. The focus of the class is health and well-being.

Bodhiccha and Allan are both pupils of Wee Kee Jin and are certified instructors of the School of Central Equilibrium founded by him. This school teaches the Yang style short form of Cheng Man-Ching, as developed by Master Huang of Malaysia. Master Huang developed the form as a martial art and brought into it some elements of White Crane karate, but the form as we teach it remains close to that taught by Cheng Man-Ching.
