This website aims to help you find your way around the program of activities we offer here at the Glasgow Buddhist Centre. You can also find out a bit about us, who we are and what we teach.  

 

 

 

New classes and courses in Meditation and Buddhism start regularly throughout the year.  These classes are open to everyone: you don’t need to be a Buddhist to benefit from them. We run morning and evening classes.

Regulars Drop in Meditation
For anyone familiar with the practices of metta bhavana and the mindfulness of breathing.Keep up your meditation in the company of others with this led session.No need to book, just come along and join in.

The centre is a favorite venue for those seeking Yoga or Taiji instruction. We offer classes after work, evenings and mornings.

You’ll find us at 329 Sauchiehall Street (opposite the dental hospital) on the first floor with stairway access. The centre is on all on one level and is light and airy – quite a different feel to the bustle and noise of Sauchiehall Street! If you have a disability and would like to visit us or attend a course, please contact us to check our facilities.

You can also download an application form and post it to the centre with a deposit cheque. However If possible please send full payment for the course or event as this helps us with the administration of bookings.

 

If you make it along to see us then you can also browse in our bookshop or make yourself a cup of tea.

 
 

At the Weekend

Pan Buddhist Wesak at the Tramway's Hidden Gardens Saturday 10 May starts 11am
           This festival co-led by three of Glasgow's Buddhist groups is a celebration of the Buddha's Enlightenment.  Featuring meditation, ritual, a symposium of talks and an abundance of beautiful food and stalls, the theme of this year's celebration is generosity.
Come along any time from 11am, finishing with a closing ritual at 4pm.

For beginners or those
who would like to refresh their practice.
Please bring vegetarian snack to share for lunch.

Wesak Festival
Sunday 18th May  at the GBC.

The Buddha's Enlightenment is the central event in Buddhism, and Wesak is the celebration of that Enlightenment.
The most important Buddhist festival of the year.
4.00pm to 9.00pm
(Meal: 6.30pm-7.30pm)

Vegetarian Cookery Day                             Sat 31 May      10.30am - 4.30pm
Looking at how to balance our diet without meat; see tasty food prepared by some of the best cooks at the centre, then eat and enjoy!                £25/£15

Reiki Day Sun 1 June  with Claire Brogan & David Johnstone     Reiki sessions offered throughout the day.  Each treatment is for half an hour. Please note that booking is essential.                   £10 per session 

Meditate at the Botanics
Fri 20 June

As part of the west end festival. Meditate in the open air with other meditators or join a guided meditation for those new to meditation.
Please bring something to sit on.   
Starts outside kibble palace at 2.00pm.
