| Ratnadevi
Ratnadevi is an ordained Buddhist and has been teaching yoga and meditation for over 20 years. Rooted in the Iyengar system of Yoga, she incorporates elements from other Yoga traditions, as well as Pilates, Feldenkrais and massage. A typical class will start with some warm-ups, build towards more intense work, followed by a deep relaxation and finish with a short period of meditation. Yoga promises ‘wholeness’ - the satisfaction and nourishment that results from being fully engaged, in the present moment. Gentle yet precise stretches, in tune with the breath, open and strengthen the body. Yoga can have a balancing effect; it energises you when you feel depleted, and it has a calming and centering effect when you feel speedy or anxious. Ratnadevi is a kind and encouraging teacher, helping students to an approach that leads to best results, i.e. not being too goal-oriented and pushy, whilst still having a sense of progress These classes are meant as an introduction to yoga and would be suitable for beginners and people with a limited experience of yoga. The course will introduce a short sequence of poses, which once learned can be practised with an emphasis on flowing movement and awareness of breathing.
