Paranirvana Day Programme
Sunday 9 February 10.30am-4pm at Glasgow Buddhist Centre. The Centre will open at 10am
10.30am: Welcome to the cosmic drama.
The day unfolds within a special Paranirvana Puja put together by Viryadevi and Taradakini, drawn from the Mahāparinibbāṇa Sutta and other Pali text sources.
Evoking the gathering around the Buddha at his final resting place.
Metta bhavana meditation
Sharing (optional) in a circle some of the qualities of someone dear to you who has died, and offering a picture or memento of the person to the shrine.
Going for refuge
1pm-2pm shared lunch
Earth, breath meditation (you are welcome to lie down for this)
Sensing into some of our losses, our kinship with them.
Reflecting on how we would like to be remembered (bring paper and pen), honouring our qualities and offering any intentions to the shrine.
Transferring our merits and dissolving the day.
